It was expected that construction work would have already been underway to develop the houses for the pioneering new project, but the start has been delayed by planning permission issues.
However, developer Sustainable Projects Ireland has finally received full planning permission to build around a quarter of the 113 homes, which will have minimal impact on the environment.
The Nenagh Guardian reports that Dave Flannery, sales executive with Sustainable Projects Ireland, is hopeful that the work will be underway within the next month, allowing the first residents to move in next spring.
He added that the remainder of the awaiting planning permission is at an advanced stage and it is expected that around 200 people will be able to live in the village once it is complete.
The development is set to be the first eco village to be built in Ireland and will include an extensive area for woodland and wildlife.
