David Carter’s report casts doubt on the assertion that British beef is BSE free and raises questions regarding how many more cases of the human form of BSE will surface in the next couple of decades. The French use of the precautionary principle in continuing to ban British beef is being considered by an EU committee (see related story). The committee is due to release its findings on 25 October.
