The Hazardous Waste Directive required EC member states to provide the following information regarding all sites used for hazardous waste storage by 1996:
- names and addresses of facilities
- methods used to treat waste
- types and quantities of waste that can be treated
The EC’s policy is for the region to be self-sufficient in waste disposal and for member states to establish an integrated network of disposal installations. It cannot publish EU-wide data on hazardous waste installations until all member states provide the full range of information required.
