Leonardo DiCaprio, Barack Obama and David Cameron were among the global icons who gave speeches at the UN Summit. Here is your edie multimedia rundown of what they said.

Di Caprio

The newly appoined UN Messenger of Peace told the assembly that humankind has looked at climate change as if it were a fiction, happening to someone else’s planet. 

Obama

In a rousing speech, President Obama said “We are the first generation to feel the effect of climate change and the last generation who can do something about it

 

Cameron

David Cameron then told the assembly he believed he had led the greenest UK government ever.

UN Secretary General 

Ban Ki-Moon closed the days proceedings saying “We have delivered”. He added “let us look back on today as the day we decided – as a human family – to put our house in order to make it liveable for future generations.

New York City paid a special ‘green’ tribute to the success of the summit.
