Episode 111 of edie’s Sustainable Business Covered Podcast has been created to mark International Women’s Day (IWD) 2022 – and with women still accounting for just 21% of board-level seats in the UK energy sector, according to PwC, it’s this sector that we are spotlighting.

edie’s senior reporter Sarah George is joined by Utility Week’s water correspondent Ruth Williams for this episode, with the pair delivering three interviews with women who have dedicated their professional lives to furthering the energy transition.

First up, Sarah catches up with Juliet Davenport  – founder and former chief executive of Good Energy. Juliet explains why she decided to step down from the chief executive post in 2021, fills us in on what she is working on now, and offers her learnings for women who want to be sustainability challengers and innovators.

Then, PPAYA’s founder Kristina Rabecaite discusses her experiences entering the clean energy sector from the technology side of things, providing her calls to action on improving education and skills as it grows. After working at LimeJump, Kristina took the plunge and launched PPAYA – a digital platform for power purchase agreements (PPAs) – last year.

Last but by no means least is an interview with National Grid Ventures’s president Cordi O’Hara. Cordi has been working in the energy sector in the UK and US for more than 20 years and has seen, first-hand, the evolving challenges and opportunities for low-carbon technologies and for women in the workforce.
