Prizes for pioneering solar energy

Every year, the European Solar Prizes are given to individuals, cities and companies that have come up with original and outstanding uses of renewable energy. This year’s prizes, awarded by energy group EUROSOLAR, go to a renewable energy island in Denmark, a sustainable zero emission factory in Germany and a zero energy housing project in the UK (see related story)

Frank Asbeck from the German company Solar World is receiving an award for his “courageous business decisions” in the photovoltaic industry, while a German energy agency is scooping a prize for its promotion work on renewable energy. German businessman Rolf Disch and Danish Professor Bent Sørensen are also collecting prizes for their dedication to green energy.

EUROSOLAR’s prestigious World Prize goes to Richard King, the founder of an American student solar village known as Solar Decathlon.
