SOUTH AFRICA: Durban prepares for international conservation conference in 2002

The conference is organised by the World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA), itself a member of the World Conservation Union. With 1,300 members in 140 countries, the WCPA represents the world’s largest network of professionals working in the protected areas field.

The conference is expected to build on any new and changed directions in conservation that come out of the World Conservation Congress to be held in Amman, Jordan in October 2000.

The World Conservation Union was founded in 1948.
