Currently exempt from restrictions on the use of CFCs, on the grounds that asthma inhalers are medical equipment, Michael Meacher has announced the phasing-out of CFCs in inhalers over the next three years.
More than 39 million inhalers are used annually in the UK, requiring some 800 tonnes of CFCs in their production.
