With barely half of qualifying companies meeting the extended ESOS compliance deadline, it’s clear the scheme had a tough time gaining traction with UK plc. But what’s next for those that did meet the requirements and the deadline?
With no obligation to implement any efficiency measures following the first ESOS audit, is this another ’toothless’ compliance scheme which will fail to deliver concrete benefits for qualifying businesses? Six weeks on from the extended deadline, this edie webinar will provide an insight into energy managers’ experience of the compliance process, and how they are planning on using their findings to engage with employees; get crucial buy-in from the board, and drive real change in their organisations.
The webinar will include presentations from leading experts: –
- Luke Nicholls, editor of edie, will chair the webinar, providing a brief introduction to ESOS compliance, the tough time the scheme had gaining traction ahead of the extended deadline, and what’s next for those that did meet the requirements and the deadline.
- Jaz Rabadia, senior manager of energy & initiatives at Starbucks, will explain the process she went through when conducting the firm’s ESOS audit. With more than nine years of retail energy management experience with Sainsbury’s, Debenhams and now Starbucks, Rabadia has driven year-on-year reductions in energy bills and emissions through active data management, intelligent procurement, energy project rollouts, engaging communications and behavioural change programmes.
- Gary Armstrong, technical director of Business Efficiency – part of the Sustainable Services unit within Jacobs Engineering Group. Gary Gary brings together the energy and resource management services Jacobs provides to clients across the manufacturing, commercial and public sectors, overseeing a number of ESOS audits for other firms.
- Keith Brierley, senior advisor, environment and business, Environment Agency. Keith has a degree in chemistry from Nottingham University and worked in the chemical industry for 18 years, in a variety of technical and managerial roles. Following the formation of the Environment Agency in 1996, Keith was involved in industry regulation until 2005, before switching to working on climate change trading regimes. His emissions trading experience to date includes the EU Emissions Trading System and the CRC energy efficiency scheme.
