AFRICA: UN opens online discussion on how best to bring Africa into Kyoto Protocol

UNIDO has been working with six African countries on the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) – a process that will see technologies that produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions being transferred from the developed world to developing nations. The CDM forms part of the Kyoto Protocol, the international agreement to combat climate change.

Work on the CDM thus far has shown a need for more open debate and discussion on the most effective ways of ensuring clean technologies are effectively transferred to Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Now, a UNIDO internet conference has been established. Anyone with interest and relevant experience in the field of environmental technology is welcome to register and join the Africa, Industry & the CDM internet conference.
