Software company Haestad Methods has announced that it is to hold courses on water distribution and sanitary sewer design in Monterrey, Mexico, which will be attended by engineers and managers from the Institute of Hydrology of Trujillo, Peru; the State Commission for Potable Water of Ciudad Victoria, Mexico; and the University of Autonoma of San Luis Potsi in Central Mexico.

This week, Haestad Methods has also announced the release of PondPack Version 8.0, the latest upgrade to its urban stormwater management and detention pond design software solution for the civil engineering community. According to the company, those who have used the package prior to its release have stated that it is the fastest and most powerful urban hydrology modelling software in the industry.

Still in the field of water management, PCI-WEDCEO Environmental Technologies of New Jersey, USA, has announced that it was the company that designed the new ozone generation system for treating drinking water at the Robert A Duff Water Treatment Plant in Medford in the US. The company is also currently producing an ozone generation system for the City of Dallas, Texas, for its Eastside Water Treatment Plant.

SRI World Group, a firm that provides information and consulting services regarding socially responsible investment, has published a new 20-page guide for those who wish to start investing in socially responsible mutual funds. The guide covers issues such as asset allocation, investment style, and the different types of SRI mutual funds, and explains how different funds integrate social and environmental criteria into their investment strategies.

Meanwhile, in the world of energy, TXU Energy in the US has announced the launch of TXU Energy Sentinel, a suite of 26 energy management services for large commercial and industrial customers. The suite includes energy information, supply-side, demand-side, and asset management services. Customers may purchase any number of these services and can obtain access to their information through a secure portal online.
