Edie named centre of expertise for manufacturing information

The edie website has been included in the UK’s network of centres of expertise in manufacturing by the Department of Trade and Industry’s Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS).

The formation of MAS was announced in February last year, and has been developed since by the DTI, regional development agencies (RDAs) and the Welsh Development Agency. The scheme consists of Regional Centres for Manufacturing Excellence and Centres of Expertise in manufacturing, and includes an online information source.

Edie provides a wide range of information to companies, from a weekly news service, a regularly up-dated ‘jobs’ section, and an environmental ‘help’ section, to a huge directory of suppliers of products and services within the environment industry. Amongst other features, there is also the opportunity to have your say in Speaker’s Corner, an events diary, a software guide, and a plethora of publications.

Edie’s Publisher, Carl Myers, noted that he was delighted with the website’s registration as a Centre of Expertise. “This demonstrates the assimilation of environmental protection as a fundamental part of the manufacturing process,” he said. “As part of the new national network, edie will continue to provide companies in the manufacturing industry with the essential information and support services they need to improve their environmental performance and business efficiency.”
