It quotes manufacturers who state finding out that kind of information should not prove difficult, despite the fact it is rarely included in tractor-makers literature.
Michael Gillon of Case-IH told the Irish Independent the pillar display on their Magnum, CVX and Steiger models show litres per hour and litres per hectare.
He stated: “Some read-outs give you litres per hour, but that’s a very narrow viewpoint of limited value. Consumption has to be related to work done.”
With this type of information to hand, Mr Gillon claims that farmers can experiment with a variety of driving strategies to achieve the best possible balance between productivity and fuel balance.
