Solmec materials handler speeds up waste processing

Established in 2001 and operating in a 40-mile radius around Hilsea, family owned Bridge Skips operates a fleet of skip loaders and roll-on-off vehicles processing its own mixed waste. The company also services waste producers and takes in trade waste from surrounding companies.

The decision to purchase Solmec was made by Bridge Skips MD Glen Howard following market evaluation of competitors’ machines and demonstrations attended by the company. Mr Howard said: “We were very impressed when we saw a Solmec at work and, after discussion with Sandhurst’s Mike McDonagh and taking into account our compact yard, we decided on a 210 ESC which is a 22 tonne machine. Although the 210 is one of the smaller models in the Solmec range we are delighted with the specification, engineering quality and the amount of machine we got for our money. Most importantly, thanks to the Solmec, we are processing much more waste and that’s what we started out to achieve”.

The Solmec 210 ESC supplied to Bridge Skips features a 10 metre reach, 5 tonne lift capacity, solid rubber wheels, four stabilising outriggers and an elevating cab. The machine, which is powered by a Deutz six-cylinder engine developing 127 kW, features Linde load sensing hydraulics. Sandhurst supplied the Solmec with an Ardenne grab.
