The future of sustainable business: edie launches landmark Mission Possible 2018 report
edie has published its flagship 2018 report for the Mission Possible campaign, exploring how businesses are scaling up effort and innovation across all areas of development to achieve a sustainable future.
Produced in association with E.ON, the 44-page Mission Possible: 2018 report explores the future of sustainable business across the five Mission Possible campaign pillars: Energy, Resources, Mobility, The Built Environment, and Business Leadership.
Launching the report at the edie Live 2018 exhibition in Birmingham today, edie’s content director Luke Nicholls said: “The past few years have thrown up numerous challenges and caused great uncertainties for business.
“But beyond the depressing headlines of extreme weather events, geopolitical instabilities and corporate mistrust, there is a counter-narrative – one of organisations demonstrating a newfound courage and willingness to change for the greater good.
“It is this narrative which this report gives the respect and prominence it deserves; serving as a reminder for us all that our mission to achieve a sustainable future really is Mission Possible.”
Inside the report
Mission Possible: 2018 is the culmination of months of research and content development for the Mission Possible campaign, which seeks to empower more businesses to take new sustainability actions and deliver transformational change.
The report is based on the findings of an extensive survey of 200 sustainability, energy and resource professionals about the various drivers, challenges and opportunities related to the five Mission Possible campaign pillars: energy, resources, infrastructure, mobility and business leadership.
It begins with a foreword written by Forum for the Future founder-director Jonathan Porritt, who stresses the importance for businesses to turn these ambitions into actions to achieve a sustainable future.
The report then goes on to showcase a range of thought-leadership articles written by the likes of E.ON, PwC, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC); along with a series of video case studies including BT, P&G, Landsec, Heathrow Airport and Carlsberg.
