Sustainable Energy Ireland reminds companies of grant programme

Sustainable Energy Ireland has reminded businesses that the European Union is accepting proposals under the Intelligent Energy - Europe programme.

With euro 65 million available to help companies become more efficient and invest in renewable energy or transport, it suggests the scheme could be the ideal chance of having a project funded.

The deadline for entries is 17.00 local time in Brussels on June 25th and grants can cover up to three-quarters of the eligible costs.

Businesses can also attend the Eco-innovation European Info Day, to be held in the Belgian capital on April 20th, where they will be able to find out more on the forthcoming proposals.

Some of the projects the grant will be available for include the implementation of long-lasting training schemes for the building workforce and action aimed at improving the energy efficiency of residential buildings.

It comes following news the European Commission has passed legislation concerning the power adaptors for devices such as laptops and mobile phones that could save the equivalent of Lithuania's annual consumption of energy.
