Edie editor voted one of most influential people in waste industry

Edie's waste channel is celebrating another success after its editor Maxine Perella was voted as one of the most influential people in the waste industry.

Maxine made her debut at number 32 in Resource magazine's Top 100 for carrying the 'waste torch' - a much-anticipated annual survey in which readers are invited to vote on those waste and resource management professionals they think are doing a worthy job.

One reader said Maxine "does a lot to promote the waste industry in a positive light" beating the likes of Green MP Caroline Lucas (51), former Welsh Environment Minister Jane Davidson (89) and Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman (97). She was also the highest rated editor, beating Steve Eminton from letsrecycle.com (53).

Although Maxine is relatively new in her role as editor of edieWaste, she has extensive experience of reporting on the waste industry, having formerly been editor of sister magazine Local Authority Waste & Recycling (LAWR) for five years.

The news follows on from the announcement earlier this month that edieWaste's twitter account @edieWaste has been ranked sixth in the first ever list of the top 100 sustainability influencers on twitter, ranked by authority.

Edie's managing editor Will Parsons said: "This is the second time in as many weeks that Maxine and edieWaste have been featured in high-profile industry rankings. I'm delighted to see Maxine get the recognition she deserves from her peers in the industry - all the more impressive when you consider the calibre of the people named in the list (and that she beat!).

"Proof positive that edie is the go-to site for waste and resource management and a leading authority in the sector."
