UK 'must boost funding in line with green energy goals'

News in Brief

Britain must increase spending on renewables if it wants to meet its 20% by 2020 renewables target, industry associations have said.

The problem, according to the British Wind Association, is that the Government has increased its renewables goals but not the funding allocated to reaching them when it set out its energy objectives in last year's energy review.

"Trying to get a 20 percent target in 2020 using the same amount of
money as a 15 percent goal is like trying to extract a quart from a pint pot," said BWEA chief executive Maria McCaffery. "It just doesn't add up."
