ICU enters new landscape with Sustainabilitylive!
International Clean-Up is now part of Sustainabilitylive!, a new umbrella event which will showcase the latest solutions in the land remediation, environment, energy and water sectorsA ccess some of the UK's most innovative and influential organisations in the land remediation and regeneration sector next month by attending International Clean-Up (ICU) 2007 which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from 1 - 3 May.
ICU brings together those with an interest in sustainable land development and remediation solutions for contaminated soils. Confirmed exhibitors at this year's event include the British Geological Survey, Shanks Waste Solutions, Thurlow Countryside Management, PA Geotechnical and Geo-Environmental.
The show will provide an unparalleled opportunity for those working in the industry to come face-to-face with thousands of potential buyers, decision-makers and influencers from the public and private sectors.
A series of free seminars will run alongside the show (see page 32) as well as two other special events - the Environmental Industries Commission (EIC) briefing sessions and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) standing conference.
The EIC sessions, which take place on 1 and 2 May, will look at the policy and legislative frameworks for land remediation which are changing rapidly. Here high-level speakers from government, regulators and industry will examine key issues.
These include progress with CLEA and soil guideline values (SGVs), the forthcoming Environment Agency protocol on waste and contaminated soils, how local authorities are coping with Part IIA and the impact of new EU laws including the soils and waste frameworks and the environmental liability and groundwater directives.
Meanwhile the CIEH conference, which takes place on 3 May, is a closed meeting for standing conference members. It will debate the outcome of discussions on the way forward for SGVs and the implications of that for the remediation of contaminated sites, whether voluntarily or under Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act.
ICU is now part of Sustainablitylive!, a new umbrella event launched by the publishers of LAWR, Faversham House Group (FHG). Sustainabilitylive! brings together four major exhibitions - ICU, Environmental Technology (ET), National Energy Management (Nemex) and International Water & Effluent Treatment (IWEX).
By bringing these shows together under one roof at the NEC, Sustainabilitylive! is set to become the UK's most comprehensive forum for excellence in the environment, energy, water and land remediation sectors.
