Green GB Week: edie’s highlights of the week

Running from Monday through to Friday, Green GB Week will celebrate the nation’s leadership on climate change – marking the 10-year anniversary of the Climate Change Act – while highlighting the business opportunities of low-carbon, resource-efficient growth.

The Week will include a series of live events that will discuss the leading role of the UK’s academic community and businesses in developing new low-carbon technologies, innovative financial products and business models that will tackle climate change while generating economic growth.

Science-based Targets webinar

As an official media partner of Green GB Week, edie is hosting an exclusive Science Based Targets Webinar on Thursday (18 October) at 2pm, allowing businesses to explore how carbon-reduction targets made in line with climate science can be used to future-proof business growth.

Running on Thursday 18th October at 2pm (the day of Green GB Week which is dedicated to ‘business action’), the Science Based Targets Webinar will include presentations from BT, Capgemini, Signify and The Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Group, followed by a live audience Q&A about how to adopt science-based targets in your business.

The Science Based Targets webinar will be free to watch on Thursday at 2pm, and can be registered for here.

A new place to share YOUR sustainability commitments

edie will be utilising its purpose-driven Mission Possible campaign to help the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) tell the story of clean growth and empower organisations of all industry types and sizes to accelerate progress towards a low-carbon economy.

Throughout the week and beyond, businesses are being encouraged to make new commitments to edie’s Mission Possible Pledge Wall, supporting the Week’s aim to promote the business opportunity of clean growth and encourage climate action.

Already, 18 Mission Possible Pledges have been added to the Wall, with the likes of Coca-Cola European Partners, Johnson & Johnson and House of Fraser all showcasing their individual commitments to support the Mission Possible campaign’s aims.

Stay tuned throughout this week as a range of high-profile organisations will be adding their names to the Pledge Wall.

The new Green GB Week website, incorporating the Mission Possible Pledge Wall, can be viewed here. Any business interested in making a new commitment to be showcased on the Mission Possible Pledge Wall should email missionpossible@edie.net with details of their pledge.
