Obama calls for BP funded oil compensation cash
President Barack Obama is to demand BP puts a 'substantial' amount of cash into a fund for victims of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
The US leader made the announcement yesterday (June 13) a day after a phone call with UK prime minister David Cameron.
White House officials are now expected to, this Wednesday, grill BP bosses with a fund to compensate American business suffering due to the spill top of the agenda.
Although, the precise details of the conservation between Mr Cameron and Mr Obama have not been made public.
It’s clear the two spoke at length over the Gulf of Mexico spill and British fears over an increasingly anti-UK stance from the president.
A spokesman said: “The president and prime minister discussed the impact of tragic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, reiterating that BP must do all it can to respond effectively to the situation.”
