October 2 is US National Estuaries Day

Events ranging from an evening of information about manatees to canoe trips will mark National Estuaries Day on Sunday 2 October.

Organised by the EPA’s National Estuary Program (NEP) and the National Estuarine Research Reserve System (NERRS), the day seeks to educate the public on the importance of protecting estuaries.

NERRS is a network of protected areas created by the Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA) of 1972.
