ACE PLANT

Quarry operators and large earthmoving contractors should be interested in the latest innovation from specialist environmental equipment manufacturer, ACE Plant. The Bundie Service Station adds versatility to the company’s standard range of high spec, all-steel, site transportable bunded bowsers by including three additional tanks to complement the 1,500 gallon (6,800) litre capacity diesel fuel bowser. Hydraulic oil, engine oil and anti-freeze tanks are accessed from an additional platform at the opposite end of the unit to the bowser controls. The three-axle unit has turntable steering and complies with HSE and Environment Agency regulations.

ACS

Concrete and waste water recycling equipment from Bibko, the German specialist, will be on display on the Associated Concrete Solutions Ltd (ACS) stand.
Bibko supplied its first concrete recycling system in 1984 and has over one thousand systems operating around the world in both readymix and precast operations. Incorporating patented design features, the machines are renowned for being robust with low running costs. A range of three types of recycler and different sizes in each range ensures there are machines to suit all applications.
Bibko recyclers are designed to wash and remove all coarse aggregate over 0.2mm in a clean and dry condition suitable for re-use. Fine material below 0.2mm is retained in the water, which is normally re-used in the concrete production eliminating the traditional settlement tanks and the mess associated with them.
The whole system is operated by Bibko’s automatic control, which, for readymix, requires only a single button which is pressed by the truck driver when he is parked under the rinse pipe.

Associated Concrete Solutions Ltd of Worcester has supplied and installed systems to readymix operations in the UK and Ireland as well as bespoke systems for the precast industry.

AIR SPECTRUM ENVIRONMENTAL

Air Spectrum Environmental Ltd is launching a new road dust suppression product at Hillhead. HRDC® (Haul Road Dust Control) ensures savings on dust control for both quarries and landfill sites. HRDC® allows sites to reduce the frequency that water bowsers are required. The company says it is guaranteed to improve the dust suppression on sites when applied through the existing water bowser.

As well as providing immediate savings HRDC® also has a cumulative effect, which means that these savings increase with time. Savings arise as a result of reduced water usage, man-hours, equipment usage, and fuel consumption. Sites also benefit from increased safety, visibility, equipment maintenance periods and environmental protection.

CARBOLITE

Carbolite is showing the latest solvent-free asphalt analyser at Hillhead. This latest version of the Carbolite ABA analyser measures the binder content of asphalt without the use of solvents.

Carbolite has sold more than 60 analysers in the last 12 months, as asphalt manufacturers, highways contractors and local authorities continue to improve the safety and efficiency of their quality control procedures. They are now widely used by Lafarge Aggregates and Tarmac in the UK, and export sales are steadily growing.

The analyser replaces the conventional solvent-based method with a loss-on-ignition procedure that also reduces test times to as little as 20 minutes. An after-burner completely consumes emissions, so the procedure is also environmentally friendly.
The latest model incorporates a new controller from Eurotherm which is particularly easy to use and keep clean, the company states.

ERIEZ

In the Main Pavilion Eriez will be exhibiting a self-cleaning version of its Model CP Suspended Permanent Magnet, two different types of aperture metal detectors, including a new high sensitivity unit, as well as a demo version of a primary sampler.

The Eriez CP Magnet has been highly successful in the minerals extraction and processing industries for protecting valuable crushing and screening equipment against tramp metal damage or simply for removing iron from demolition rubble. Many hundreds of units were sold in 2004 with sales anticipated to increase by 25% in 2005. These magnets are stated to have been successful for a number of reasons, not least of which for their robust construction, the fact that they require little maintenance, are considerably less expensive and lighter in weight than suspended electromagnets (in those cases where a permanent magnet would be equally suitable). Moreover, these magnets can be supplied within a short lead time.

Where large amounts of tramp iron require separation from the conveyed material the self-cleaning option is more practical than the manual clean magnet, Eriez says. With the manual version, the tramp metal has to be removed periodically by hand or with a moveable stripper plate. When a self-cleaning unit is installed it is important to examine the area to ensure that there is adequate clearance for the belt to run and that provision has been made to collect discharged tramp iron.
To complement magnetic separators, Eriez also offers metal detectors to detect ferrous and non-ferrous metals. From its extensive portfolio of metal detectors, Eriez will be showcasing, for the very first time at an exhibition, the new Eriez E-Z Tec 9000 RD Metal Detector. The E-Z Tec 9000 Range was launched in 2004 and is already making an impression in the market in terms of new enquiries and orders. The E-Z Tec 9000 RD metal detector features an innovative design which allows the search head to be split into two parts. This enables a simpler installation on existing conveyors without the need for cutting the conveyor belt. As with all the E-Z Tec 9000 models, the unit incorporates high sensitivity, balanced coil technology and features a single PCB for easy servicing and surface mount technology for increased reliability.

For applications where high sensitivity is not so critical, but where a relatively low cost, robust metal detection solution is sought, Eriez will be displaying an alternative: the METALARM Bridge (“BR”) Search Coil featuring swing-away top coil and fitted with the METALARM 3500 QM2 Control Unit.

Whilst the E-Z Tec 9000 Range utilises balanced coil technology the Eriez METALARM Metal Detectors feature pulse induction technology. As such, they are lower in cost, are not prone to “product effect” and are easier to install due to the search coils being custom built to suit the conveyor on which they are to be mounted.
Both the METALARM BR and E-Z Tec 9000 RD metal detectors will be mounted on lightweight conveyor and idler sets to create a more realistic impression of how they would be installed in-situ.

In addition to offering the twin solution of magnetic separators and metal detectors to combat and eradicate the problems of metal contamination, Eriez also provides its customers with sampling equipment and expertise. To this end, a demo-sized version of the successful Eriez Prisecter PRL Sampler will be shown and demonstrated.

EXTEC SCREENS & CRUSHERS

Extec Screens and Crushers will be taking the opportunity of Hillhead 2005 to show the very latest developments in mobile screening and crushing plant. With true mobility and high productivity being the key features of an exciting range with a Hillhead debutante being unveiled this year -the E-7.

The E-7 is a heavy-duty track mounted self-propelled open flow screening and stockpiling system. This revolutionary machine has been purpose built for the recycling and quarrying markets.

The E-7 has been developed over the last 18 months through Extec’s R&D programme. Based on in-depth customer and market analysis the E-7 has been developed in order to deal with customers’ real requirements. These include: screening heavy over-burden at the quarry face; pre-screening/scalping prior to being fed into a crusher; recycling construction and landfill waste; and separation of “sticky” aggregate.

Other machines being shown this year will include the C-12 and C-10 tracked jaw crusher. The C-Series have been designed and tested using the latest computer aided design technology with initial testing being undertaken on a large selection of various types of material in the USA and Europe.

The C-Series encompass such features as a vibratory feeder with automatic control to regulate the feed into the crusher; a hydraulic adjustment system to regulate the product size to be crushed; reverse crushing action to assist in clearing blockages; and a high crushing speed.

The tracked impact crusher, the Impactor, based on the successful C-12, is yet another example of Extec’s commitment to R&D marrying the latest technology with the requirements of the user.

Extec says that the Impactor encompasses such mould breaking features as: unique fast track flow system for concrete with rebar; a feeder system which automatically regulates flow of material to crusher; self propelled on low ground pressure tracks. All these features produce an Impactor that is capable of the highest production in its size for materials such as rock, concrete and asphalt.

The S-Series three-way split screening systems are stated to be the ultimate mobile screening system designed for the serious contractor or quarry operation. The S-4 Doublescreen, based upon the S-5, is designed for the operation that does not require the massive through-put of the S-5 but still requires the precision screening only available from a Doublescreen. The S-3, the newest member of the S-Series, is aimed at the quarry or recycling operation where durability, production and mobility are paramount.

JCB

JCB has chosen Hillhead 2005 to debut its heavy duty JS330 HRD to the recycling industry. Designed and built by JCB, the 21-metre high reach demolition rig comprises a three-fold boom and fits on to the standard JS330XD base unit. High reach rigs are the most popular piece of plant with demolition contractors and the new model will form the spearhead of the JCB’s drive for an increased share of the European demolition market.

The expected growth in sales will have an impact on the recycling industry with its inextricable link with the demolition sector. The rubble from demolished buildings is now crushed and recycled for secondary aggregates. JCB’s focus is on the development of products to benefit both markets.

The new JCB 456 wheeled loading shovel and its Wastemaster variant will also make their UK exhibition debuts.

The new JCB 456 model features the traditional qualities of high breakout forces and robust construction with the added benefits of sophisticated operation, a larger field of vision, increased comfort, improved performance and serviceability.
A host of improvements will be included as standard on the Wastemaster version including: air conditioning, belly, brake-pipe and cab-screen guards, a carbon air filter, a smart reverse alarm and a wide core radiator. Sector specific options will also include Super High Lift, one-piece loader arms and heavy duty puncture resistant tyres. The new model is expected to build on its predecessor’s success in waste transfer, MRFs, waste to energy and compost operations.

JCB states that the brand new JZ140 is the first 14 tonne zero tail swing excavator to feature a full size cab – delivering an unrivalled operator environment.
The model brings the market leading performance and operator benefits of JCB’s new generation excavators to a 14-tonne machine which can perform in the most confined spaces – common within the recycling industry.

In addition to these brand new models JCB’s Hillhead stand will feature its other well-established products for the recycling and quarrying markets including the 722 articulated dump truck and JS160W wheeled excavator.
