Power plant to run on gasified waste
News in BriefA new gasification plant on the Isle of Wight will be producing 2.3MW of energy from waste by 2008, the company behind the project has said.
The plant employs a gasification method, an alternative to incineration, using a two-stage thermal process system, producing a gas, with the resulting thermal energy used to produce electricity.
The Defra-backed project will see 60,000 tonnes of waste used for energy generation each year, diverging 15,000 tonnes of waste from landfill, according to Energos, the company behind the venture.
