Kemsley Mill is one of three mills owned by DS Smith Paper which, combined, produce around 1.1m tonnes of paper per year. Countrystyle brings expertise in handling industrial waste from the paper manufacturing process, enabling the company to deliver a sustainable service.
Countrystyle will undertake the daily running of the programme, which also includes the segregation and recycling of all materials and the transportation of production waste to DS Smith Paper’s on-site waste-to-energy plant, which provides heat and power to the mill.
In addition, Countrystyle’s sister company, FGS Agri, will be responsible for the removal of effluent and RCF sludges generated during the manufacturing process, which are reused for land spreading and as a soil enhancer.
Countrystyle’s managing director, Mat Stewart, said: “Kemsley Mill is a close neighbour to our Ridham recycling facility which means we can offer an effective service. The nature of the waste produced at the site means there are challenges in finding sustainable alternatives to landfill, but it’s a challenge we’re meeting head on.”
