French daily Liberation commissioned a poll of ‘self-avowed Lefties’ in order to understand “what it means to be on the Left”. The poll showed that “ecology is queen” in current French thinking on the Left, with 21% of respondents declaring themselves in closest political agreement with ecologists.
Women, those under 25 years and people on low incomes were most likely to agree with ‘green’ politics.
