Green Retail app helps small firms save big on energy and waste
Zero Waste Scotland has unveiled a new app for iOS to help small businesses save money on their energy, water and waste bills.
The Green Retail app provides videos and practical tools as well as writeen guides on legislation, top-tips and behaviour changing.
Resource Efficient Scotland’s Stephen Boyle said: “The retail sector has the potential to make huge efficiency savings and we are keen to help them realise savings where they can and to make their businesses more efficient.
“The Green Retail app is a handy, easy-to-use and comprehensive tool for busy retailers to access the latest advice and support from the Resource Efficient Scotland programme and Zero Waste Scotland, making smarter use of resources and saving money in the process.
The use of apps to drive sustainability is not a new phenomenon; earlier this year Sainsbury’s and Google teamed up to deliver a food-waste reduction app.
Likewise, last month consultancy firm WSP released a list of the 20 most sustainable apps, topped by eBay, Kindle and Skype.
Zero Waste Scotland yesterday also launched a new fund to help Scottish fashion designers create zero-waste, closed-loop clothing ranges.
