Under the agreement, the two companies will explore water and wastewater opportunities in Portugal, Brazil and Chile.
Chief executive Bill Alexander said: “The combination of both companies’ technical expertise, and global presence will ensure that we are leading contenders in this rapidly developing marketplace.”
Thames is the UK’s largest water company, serving 21M people worldwide, while EDP is Portugal’s largest power utility.
