Environmental Personality of the Year – shortlist unveiled

An eclectic mix of individuals have been nominated by edie's readers to be named environmental personality of the year at the inaugural Awards for Environmental Excellence next month.


The shortlist includes people who have made their mark in diverse arenas, from politics to broadcasting.

The final five are, in alphabetic order:

  • Broadcaster and naturalist David Attenborough

  • Climate campaigner and former presidential candidate Al Gore

  • Mayor of London Ken Livingstone

  • Former Environment Secretary David Miliband

  • Campaigning journalist George Monbiot

    The overall winner will be announced at a black tie awards dinner at the Natural History Museum, London on October 23.
