As a group Hillbrooke Hotels was recycling 24% of its waste, with no recycling at two of its sites. The company is now looking to improve this rate to nearly 50% at each of its sites across the south of England and Midlands in the next 12 months.

Waste contractor SWR has been appointed to streamline operations and introduce new processes at six of the seven Hillbrook locations as part of the process to hike up recovery levels.

Hillbrooke Hotels’ operations director Paul Brown, said: “We have always tried to use local suppliers where possible, we have installed low energy light bulbs and lighting movement sensors, and work hard to reduce our consumption of fuel, energy and water at every opportunity.

“One area, however, where we knew there was significant room for improvement was in our recycling performance. This is something that we are confident we can dramatically improve upon.”
