PAH removal by microfiltration
Wastewater contaminated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is a common environmental problem. Most PAHs are slightly soluble in water and form small particles. This shows that removal by filtration should be possible. After bench scale testing, TebodinWim Koning ter Heege
PAHs are hydrocarbons with a benzoiclike molecular structure. In general, they have a melting point above 20oC and are slightly soluble in water. Light PAHfractions, like naphthalene, are slightly volatile and, in general, slightly biodegradable.
