Toxic-free fashion hits Spanish catwalk
NEWS IN BRIEF
The Moda sin Toxicos (Fashion without Toxics) catwalk show will take place in Madrid and will include clothing from Mango, Camper, H&M, Marks & Spencer and Puma as well as from smaller Spanish designers.
"These fashion leaders work in a highly competitive industry, and are keen to put environmental and health concerns at the heart of their priorities," said Helen Perivier, Greenpeace toxic campaigner.
"Innovative businesses like these must currently go to extraordinary lengths to find materials that do not contain harmful chemicals; what they should be getting are guarantees that chemicals on the market are safe."
The fashion show is part of Greenpeace's ongoing campaign to push for tighter chemical controls under the EU's REACH regulations.
