Low carbon restaurant opens first UK outlet

A restaurant which claims to be the only one in the world to print the carbon footprint of every product on its menu as opened its first UK outlet.

Otarian opened its doors for the first time tonight (August 18) in London’s Soho following the successful launch of another outlet in New York earlier this year.

While there are other restaurants which source locally like Oliver Rowe’s very nice Kings Cross based Konstam – which sources everything within the M25.

Or eco-friendly gastro pub the Duke of Cambridge which opened in Islington in 1998 and the very carbon conscious Acorn House none actually put a carbon footprint on their menus for products.

So the idea behind, the entirely veggie, Otarian is to make it stand out as the only place which puts every product’s carbon footprint clearly on the menu.

edie.net is not an expert on food but the spicy wraps were nice if a little too hot and would recommend the mushroom burgers.
